About your heart

Coronary CT

There are two types of this coronary scan.

The first is an X-ray scan of the coronary arteries to look for the presence of calcium in the walls of the arteries.  This may correlate with the presence of atheroma (furring up) in the walls.  The second scan is a type of angiogram during which X-ray contrast is injected into a vein and a scan highlights the arteries themselves.
