About your heart

Suffering heart palpitations?

Palpitations are a common symptom that may or may not signify an important underlying heart problem.

An awareness of occasional heart beats is common and normal. The patient may be aware of an extra beat, skipped beat or a pause in their heart rhythm and in most cases this is not dangerous.  Sometimes the heart rhythm can change significantly and this needs careful investigation. Tests include an ECG, 24 hour heart monitor (Holter) or a longer period of monitoring with an event recorder.
